Old Wood Floor Restoration

Many consultants - contractors, general contractors, floor peoples and even some hardwood floor companies want to make a quick buck and charge way too much. Some like to make a job sound difficult or make a job look like it’s a long process when in fact it’s not. To a person that may not know about the business, vocabulary and steps, the consultant may ‘sound’ like he knows what he’s taking about.
Ask the consultant if he is the one doing the floor? If not, ask to talk to the floor installers? Sounding like one knows doesn’t mean one does know. If he’s not doing the work and supervising each step it matters not what he says or knows. There’s a big difference between knowing and doing, ask the consultant who are the people doing the work? And what is their experience? Ask for references of past work they’ve done?
When it comes to repairing and restoring old floors - floor peoples, contractors and general contractors often jump to the conclusion, because they pretend they know about hardwood floors, they claim that there’s nothing to do with old floors that they need to rip it out and install new hardwood.
Some floor jobs can be a difficult task and require more time and effort than usual to finish, yet they are not impossible to restore!
